Sewing came to me as an accident, actually I was looking for a credit in high school and thought sewing class would be easy. Having never sewn before I was amazed at just how much technical knowledge you needed to have, how much artistic ability it required and patience… lots of patience. I think I fell in love with sewing and I have not stopped since.
After learning to sew in high school I went on to study fashion and patternmaking for about 10 years, and in fact still to this day I still continue my education through my own learning and experimentation. I knew that I needed to be in a field of work that would allow me to use my skills but wasn’t sure if I really enjoyed the fickle world of fashion enough to make it my career…yet.
In searching for a creative outlet I found pillows, slipcovers and curtains and a whole new way of looking at sewing was opened up to me! Here was a new avenue for my creative skills and technical know how, one that would allow me to create fashion for homes and I was in love all over again. There is something very real in creating a beautiful set of hand sewn curtains or pillows for someone who will enjoy them every day for years to come. It is very rewarding and I have been very lucky to have fallen into this career path which has allowed me to share so much with so many wonderful people at the same time creating employment for others and a business which aims to educate people and really maintain high standards. I love my job.
When I am not sewing I spend time with my children, trying to teach them how to sew. I am an avid photographer and I love to travel and experience life. I hope you enjoy our website, and I really am thankful for the opportunity to share our work with you.
